The Funeral service may be held at a church, or at the funeral home, or right at the graveside. This is the most formal and solemn time where eulogies are given, and stories are shared. I never want to distract from the moment, so I look for opportunities from the side or an alcove. For graveside services I use my telephoto lenses and stay well outside of the notice of those in attendance.

Sometimes called the committal, this is when the casket is carried to the burial site and displayed for a time. Some traditions will include a prayer or dedication of the grave. I take both candid photos and if requested, posed photos of families by the casket.
